Shadow Yoga, founded by Natanaga Zhander (Shandor Remete), is based on ancient hatha yoga texts, and the common ground yoga shares with martial arts and cultural dance.

The Shadow practice, comprised of prelude, asana-vinyasa and conclusion, utilizes the guiding principles of marmasthana (the Indian system of 108 vital junctions of the body).

The prelude is a rhythmic sequence of circular, spiral and linear stances and asanas, including hand and arm movements. This builds strength and stamina and promotes stability, flexibility and concentration for the asana-vinyasa
(the progressive use of seats or poses). The conclusion of inverted asanas leads into pranayama and other inner advanced processes.

"The cultivation of power through all ages has always been achieved through simple and uncomplicated movements," says Zhander. "The Shadow school is built upon this principle."

The classes are taught by Glen. A typical class includes learning a prelude form plus asana-vinyasa. There are currently no Shadow classes on our schedule.

"I can clearly feel the positive effects of this practice, even in these first few weeks. I always feel very 'put together' during and afterwards.
I haven't felt this quality of integration in my life for a long time." Lisa Asagi
